Field and Forest café is situated on the main High Street, in the historic and picturesque village of Lindfield, West Sussex. This Lindfield cafe deli was started by two friends named ‘Tofield and Forrest’, hence the name. Many years later, it is now owned and run by Julian Hansford, and is simply titled Field and Forest, to reflect the natural range of produce served at the café and the landscape which surrounds us.
Julian worked successfully for many years as a dance teacher and DJ with a focus on bringing people together in a social environment enabling people to connect and enjoy the simple pleasures of life; an ethos he now brings directly to the Lindfield cafe. Most importantly Field and Forest is welcoming and inclusive. This is reflected not only in our friendly staff but in our menu where we offer standard, gluten free and vegan options throughout the drinks and food menu.

As part of a rural and wider community, we believe it is important to play our part. We endeavour to use ethically sourced produce and environmentally friendly packaging. We are doing our best to work with suppliers who also hold these values, many of whom are also based in Sussex. Most importantly given the high numbers we use, the hot drinks takeaway cups can be recycled in normal household waste. Additionally, our smoothie cups are made from corn starch – not plastic. We are happy to fill up customer cups, to save further on waste. As ever there are always things we can do to improve. It is our priority to accommodate more eco-friendly ways of working.
